Zesty Wigs Care & Styling Guide

Hey Icon! Thank you for purchasing from Zesty Wigs! Your wig has just traveled a long journey to reach you, so here’s a guide to keep your unit fabulous and long-lasting.

Unboxing & Initial Fluff

Your wig will be shipped in a box, with a hairnet to help maintain its shape. Shipping Carriers aren’t always gentle, so don’t worry if it looks a little off, heres how we fix that.

Loose / Half-Up Styles:

  • Tilt the head back and gently brush from the ends upward to detangle avoiding the front and sculpted pieces.

  • Use a metal prong wig brush for best results.

  • Fluff lightly to restore volume.

Wavy / Glamour Wave Styles:

  • Do not brush through curls or waves — brushing will ruin the definition.

  • Lightly comb only frizzing or separating areas to maintain the style. There is teasing underneath to hold the waves in place, so try not to remove it.

  • For flat or warped spots from shipping, gently lift sections with a pick or tail comb.

Curly Styles:

  • Never brush — this will destroy the curl pattern.

  • Mist the curls lightly with water, avoiding the front hairline, and detangle section by section by twisting and twirling the curls to maintain shape.

Important: No matter the style, avoid the front hairline during brushing or styling.

Updos & Ponytails

Updos:

  • Extremely fragile. Not meant for dancing — ideal for photoshoots, pageants, or ballads.

  • Recommended: use a styrofoam head to maintain shape.

  • you can gently fix frizzing using hairspray and a soft clean toothbrush.

Ponytails:

  • Resin dries like plastic; if warped or cracked, they cannot be repaired.

  • Recommended: store on a styrofoam head.

  • To detangle, start at the ends and work your way up using a metal prong wig brush.

  • For heavy tangling, lightly mist with water and a tiny amount of leave-in conditioner, avoiding the base at all costs.

Resin & Structured Hairline Tips

  • Structured Front Hairlines: If a crack occurs, it can be repaired with a handheld steamer: gently push the crack together and apply the steamer for just a second to reattach the material.

  • Important: Do not hold the steamer too long, as this can warp the style.

  • Ponytails & Resin-Based Wigs: Do not use a steamer — the resin is permanent, and any warping or cracking is irreversible.

Cutting the Lace

  • Carefully trim the lace, leaving about ½ inch extra at first.

  • This gives you flexibility if glue buildup occurs later — you can always trim a little more.

Storage & Maintenance

  • Proper storage is key!

  • After wearing, gently follow the styling instructions above for your specific wig type.

  • If your wig has clips, place them back in their original spots and replace the hairnet before storing.

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from heat or direct sunlight.

Pro Tips:

  • Metal prong wig brushes help maintain style without causing damage.

  • Styrofoam heads are perfect for preserving shape and preventing tangles — highly recommended for updos, ponytails, and longer styles.

Styling & Outfit Tips

  • Use discretion on outfits with sequins or rhinestones, as they can cause matting or snagging on your wig.

  • Treat your wig gently when styling with accessories to keep it looking flawless.
